GLOSSARY

What Is Repository Intelligence?

Repository intelligence is another name for codebase intelligence — analysis of a whole repository's structure, dependencies, history and risks to answer questions about the system as a whole. The two terms are used interchangeably.

The same idea, a different word

“Repository intelligence” and “codebase intelligence” describe the same category. Some tools use one, some the other, and a few draw a fine distinction between analysing a single repository and analysing across an organisation's many repositories.

In practice, both cover dependency mapping, change impact analysis, dead code, ownership and key-person risk, a health score, and grounded context for AI agents.

Common questions

What is repository intelligence?

It is analysis of a whole repository — its structure, dependencies, history and risks — to answer questions about the system as a whole. It is the same category as codebase intelligence.

Is repository intelligence the same as codebase intelligence?

Yes. The terms are used interchangeably. Any distinction is usually about scope — one repository versus many across an organisation.
